Project Cove

Boucle armchair and sofa beside a curved plaster wall lit by a concealed cove, with an orb floor lamp

A living room lit from behind its walls: curved plaster panels with concealed cove light, fluted timber, boucle seating and a ring chandelier under a stepped circular ceiling.

Living room interiors, Cove lighting, Wall panelling, Loose furniture and lighting

The project

The room takes its name from the light. Each wall panel floats off the surface behind it with a warm cove running along its edge, so at night the walls glow rather than the ceiling.

The panels are textured plaster and fluted timber, bent around the corner of the room, with a mandir niche set into one of them. Above, a stepped circular ceiling carries a ring chandelier.

Furniture is kept soft and low: curved boucle sofas and armchairs, a marble and walnut nesting table, an orb floor lamp. The walnut wall opposite frames a backlit portrait niche above a daybed.
